Air India grounds Airbus A350 jet in New Delhi

An Air India Airbus A350 ‍aircraft has been grounded after suffering engine ‍damage on Thursday, the country’s flag bearing carrier said in a statement, highlighting possible disruption to its long haul network.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, Air India, which operates six A350s, deploys the wide-body jets on long-haul routes to London and New York. The damage was caused by a foreign ‍object encountered by the aircraft while taxiing in ‍dense ‍fog in New Delhi, Air ‌India said.

The plane, operating from ‍Delhi to New York, was forced to return to its origin following Iran’s temporary airspace closure, ‌impacting its planned route.

Iran has since reopened its airspace after a near-five-hour closure amid concerns ‍about possible military action between the US and Iran that forced airlines to cancel, reroute or delay some flights.
