The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced Friday that it has taken control of al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa province, previously held by the SDF organization.

Axar.az reports in a statement on its Telegram channel, the ministry said its Directorate of Prisons has assumed management of the facility. It immediately launched a comprehensive review of inmates’ conditions and legal files, with each case examined individually to ensure proper legal procedures are followed.

The Syrian Arab Army transferred SDF personnel from around al-Aqtan prison to the city of Ain al-Arab in eastern Aleppo province overnight.
