On January 23, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, met with visiting Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh.

Axar.az informs the meeting focused on the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the recent tensions in Iran, as well as the regional issues.

The Iranian Deputy FM briefed the Azerbaijani top diplomat about the recent developments and the current situation in Iran. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance Azerbaijan attaches to stability in Iran and expressed his condolences to the families of those killed during the recent events in the country.

The officials noted that contacts between the Presidents of the two countries, reciprocal visits, as well as existing political dialogue are crucial in developing the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, adding that discussions of issues of shared interest have contributed to the enhancement of cooperation. They also commended the activity of the State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.

The meeting discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in transport and communications. The sides particularly underscored the key role of the projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Iran in developing the transport corridors passing through the region.

The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual concern.
