Armenians leave border villages near Azerbaijan

Armenians have vacated the villages of Upper Shorja and Lower Shorja, located in the Basarkechar district of the Goycha region near the border with Azerbaijan.

Axar.az informs this, citing Hraparak reported this.

Residents told the publication that part of the village population has left entirely, while others have relocated to Basarkechar due to the winter season. The head of the village community expressed hope that some residents may temporarily return in the spring during the planting season.

The relocation was caused by the suspension of access to the village during winter, roads being buried under snow, and the lack of basic living conditions.
