Qarabag in talks to sign Lorient striker Soumano

One of the footballers Qarabag fans are expecting amid the club’s transfer activity has been revealed.

Axar.az reports that the Aghdam-based club is currently in talks to sign striker Sambou Soumano from French side Lorient.

Negotiations are said to be progressing successfully.

It should be recalled that Qarabag also showed interest in signing Soumano late last year but failed to reach an agreement with the French club. Although Lorient reduced its asking price from €5 million to €3.5 million, the Aghdam club limited its offer to €2.5 million plus bonuses and withdrew from the talks.

It should be noted that Sambou Soumano joined Lorient in 2021 and was subsequently loaned out three times. The forward first played on loan for Belgian club Eupen.

He later featured for French lower-division sides Rodez and Quevilly-Rouen. In 2024, he returned to his parent club, Lorient. Last season, he scored 14 goals in 32 Ligue 2 appearances. This season, he has scored once in three Ligue 1 matches, finding the net against Rennes in the second round.
