Moscow continues to prioritize attacks over diplomacy

Russia launched a major wave of missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, focusing on the country’s energy infrastructure and hitting cities including Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Sumy.

Axar.az, citing Reuters, that President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the strikes, stating that Moscow continues to prioritize attacks over diplomacy.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on the international community to impose tougher sanctions on Russia to halt the ongoing aggression.

The overnight attacks killed at least one person and wounded five others, with damage reported to residential buildings, railways, and power facilities.

Ukrainian officials described the attacks as part of a near-daily campaign targeting thermal power plants, electrical substations, and the gas sector, which are crucial for both civilian life and the war effort.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia deployed 50 missiles and 297 drones, of which Ukrainian air defense intercepted or neutralized 33 missiles and 274 drones.

The strikes come amid stalled peace talks, with Russia demanding Ukraine withdraw from parts of the Donbas region, a condition Kyiv has rejected.

While Moscow denies targeting civilians, claiming attacks on infrastructure weaken Ukraine’s military capacity, Kyiv insists the strikes aim to harm civilians and undermine morale.
