US weighs sending special forces to seize Iran's nukes

The U.S. and Israel have discussed sending special forces into Iran to secure its stockpile of highly enriched uranium at a later stage of the war.

Axar.az reports, citing Axios, the 450-kilogram stockpile of 60%-enriched uranium could be converted to weapons-grade within weeks, making it a critical target.

Any operation would likely involve small special-operations teams navigating heavily fortified underground facilities and could be a U.S., Israeli, or joint mission.

President Trump indicated that such a mission is possible in the future, stating, “At some point maybe we will. We haven't gone after it. We wouldn't do it now. Maybe we will do it later.”

U.S. officials noted that the mission would require locating the material and deciding whether to transport it or neutralize it on-site.

The operation would likely include nuclear experts and possibly IAEA scientists.

Previous strikes have buried much of Iran’s uranium and destroyed most centrifuges, with remaining stockpiles in Isfahan, Fordow, and Natanz. Officials emphasized that these would be small, precise raids, not a large-scale ground invasion.
