Iran says Trump threats to hit civilian sites war crimes

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, said Monday that the President of the United States, as the highest official of his country, has openly threatened to commit war crimes.

Axar.az reports that in a post on X, he stated that threatening to attack power plants and bridges—considered civilian infrastructure—constitutes a war crime under Article 8(2)(b) of the International Criminal Court Rome Statute and the 1977 Geneva Protocol I (Article 52).

Gharibabadi stressed that Iran would deliver a decisive, immediate, and “regret-inducing” response to any act of aggression or imminent threat.

He also warned that, before the U.S. president is recorded in history as a major war criminal, he should refrain from continuing such threats, adding that their consequences would not be limited to Iran.
