Ukraine will mirror Russian actions under Easter ceasefire

Ukraine says it will maintain a ceasefire regime and respond only in a reciprocal (“mirror”) manner to Russian actions.

Axar.az reports, in a post on Facebook, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian forces had defined their response parameters in case of potential violations of ceasefire conditions by the Russian military.

“We all understand who we are dealing with. Ukraine will maintain the silence regime and act strictly in a mirror manner. The absence of Russian strikes in the air, on land, and at sea will mean no responses from our side,” he said.

Zelensky added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are prepared for any developments on the front line.

He noted that Ukraine had previously proposed various ceasefire formats to Russia on multiple occasions and said Easter should be a time of peace and security.

“A ceasefire at Easter could become the beginning of a real movement toward peace – from our side, such a proposal exists,” he said.

Zelensky also said the order of actions for Ukrainian units under a ceasefire was discussed with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and that information about the reciprocal nature of Ukraine’s response and the possibility of extending the ceasefire beyond Easter had been conveyed to the Russian side.

It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter ceasefire the previous day.
