Russia says US should not link trade to Ukraine settlement

The United States continues to tie the resumption of economic cooperation with Russia to progress on settling the conflict in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Axar.az informs that according to him, work within this group [on Russia–U.S. cooperation] is ongoing, and various issues are being discussed.

"But you are aware of the U.S. approach, which still links trade and economic cooperation—and the revival of mutually beneficial ties—to a settlement in Ukraine,” he noted.

“We believe it is not necessary to wait for a settlement in Ukraine,” Peskov added. According to him, it is in the interests of both countries to pursue “mutually beneficial projects, of which there could be many on the agenda.”
