One person has died, and seven others have been injured in a traffic accident involving a convoy carrying Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) lawmaker Zuhal Karakoc in Turkiye’s Kahramanmarash province.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that a pickup truck and a car collided at the Gerger neighbourhood junction on the Afshin-Elbistan highway in the Afshin district.

Samet Ozdemir, who was in the pickup truck, died in the crash. Among the seven injured are Karakoc, her security police officer, and MHP provincial chairman Mansur Metehan.

The injured were taken by ambulance to Afshin State Hospital after receiving initial treatment at the scene.
