EU to widen Iran sanctions to those who block Hormuz

The European Union will expand the criteria of its sanctions against Iran to include individuals and entities responsible for obstructing freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, the move follows a political agreement among EU ambassadors to adjust Iran’s sanctions regime.

One of the diplomats said there was a political agreement to change the criteria so that persons and entities responsible for obstructing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz could be listed.

A second diplomatic source said the European External Action Service (EEAS) will need several weeks to prepare any new listings.
