Russian President Vladimir Putin has told U.S. President Donald Trump that he is ready to declare a ceasefire during the Victory Day celebrations.

Axar.az reports that Russian presidential aide for international affairs Yury Ushakov made the anouncement.

Ushakov said that Trump spoke positively about the Easter ceasefire recently announced by Russia.

He added that, in this context, Putin informed his U.S. counterpart that he is prepared to declare a ceasefire for the period of Victory Day celebrations as well.

According to the Kremlin aide, Trump also actively supported the initiative, stating that the holiday marks a joint victory over Nazism in World War II.
