Chernobyl forest fires spread rapidly - Video

Large-scale forest fires have broken out in the exclusion zone around Ukraine’s Chernobyl area.

Axar.az reports that Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said strong winds are rapidly spreading the fire to new forest areas.

The burned area has already exceeded 1,100 hectares, the report noted.

Officials said dry weather conditions and the presence of landmines are making firefighting efforts more difficult.

Emergency crews, specialized equipment, and other relevant agencies have been deployed to the scene.
