Mirga Naqshine gold mine attacked in Kurdistan

The governor of Saqqez, Ziaeddin Nomani said in an interview that the attack on the Mirga Naqshine gold mine is currently under investigation by supervisory, security, and law enforcement agencies.

Axar.az reports, citing Mehr News Agency, that he said that at around 11 p.m. last night, five unidentified individuals entered the gold mine in Saqqez and caused damage to the facility.

According to him, the attackers assaulted two security guards before setting heavy machinery on fire.

Nomani said that two excavators, one loader, one grader, and five containers were damaged in the incident. The attackers fled the scene afterward.

He added that the investigation into the attack is ongoing.
