China attaches great importance to implementing the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda, promoting comprehensive and sustainable urban social, economic, and environmental development.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Mr. Wang Shengjun, a representative of China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, during the panel discussion titled “Quality and Secure Housing for a Sustainable Urban Future” held within the framework of WUF13.
According to him, World Cities Day, the first United Nations international day dedicated to cities, has become an important platform for implementing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda:
“This October, the global observance of World Cities Day will be held in Fuzhou, China, under the theme “Urban Renewal and Livable Homes.” The event will focus on addressing the housing crisis and promoting adequate housing for all.”
Mr. Wang noted that another major global event will also be held in Fuzhou this September, bringing together governments, enterprises, communities, and schools to jointly build green, low-carbon, and livable homes.
“We believe these two events will achieve fruitful results and showcase distinctive features and high standards. We sincerely welcome friends from all countries to join us in China for these activities,” he said.
