Latvia summons Russian envoy over drone claims

On May 19, Latvia’s Foreign Ministry summoned Dmitry Kasatkin, the Russian Embassy’s chargé d’affaires ad interim.

Axar.az reports that during the meeting, the head of the Russian Embassy was informed of Latvia’s protest over claims by Russian Foreign Intelligence Service that Ukraine planned to launch drones from Latvian territory and handed an official note.

Latvia’s Foreign Ministry said Russia continues to spread false claims and make escalatory statements, despite repeated assurances from Latvian officials — both through diplomatic channels and publicly — that Latvia has not authorized the use of its territory or airspace for attacks on targets inside Russia.
