Cholera outbreak worsens in Sudan’s West Kordofan

West Kordofan State in Sudan is facing a sharp rise in cholera cases, with health officials warning of a deepening humanitarian crisis after dozens of deaths and hundreds of infections were reported in recent days amid severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies.

Axar.az informs that healthcare workers said at least 75 people have died and more than 120 others have been infected following the outbreak in the Foga administrative area of Al-Nuhud locality, where new cases continue to be recorded daily.

Officials added that the disease has spread to nearby areas, including Al Kabara, Al Gussa, and Al Raqiq, as well as Al Ferdous in Lagawa locality, raising fears of a wider regional outbreak linked to markets and surrounding villages connected to Foga city.
