A group of servicemen from the 83rd Regiment of the 69th Division of Russia’s 6th Army have voluntarily surrendered to Ukrainian forces.

Axar.az informs that the surrendered soldiers also released a statement.

In their appeal, the servicemen said that Russian commanders had sent them on what they described as a suicide mission and threatened to “reset” their military service records if they refused to comply.

According to the soldiers, they found a leaflet containing instructions on how to surrender and subsequently laid down their arms and gave themselves up.

The servicemen also urged Russians not to sign military contracts, avoid going to war, and, for those already on the front line, consider surrendering.
