Thailand orders 15-days of mourning for late Princess

Thailand on Friday announced a 15-day national mourning period following the death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Axar.az reports that despite the mourning period, the Thai government said the public will continue their normal daily routines, with no restrictions placed on festivals or entertainment activities.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that citizens should carry on with their everyday lives and economic activities as usual during the mourning period, which begins on June 12.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha, 47, passed away on the night of June 11 after spending more than three years in hospital following a sudden collapse caused by a heart condition.

As part of the official mourning measures, national flags at government buildings and public schools will be flown at half-mast. Civil servants, state enterprise employees, and government officials are also expected to observe mourning customs, including wearing black clothing.
