US and Iran reach peace deal after intensive negotiations

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement following intensive negotiations.

Axar.az reports that, according to a statement published on X, both sides have agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

Sharif said the official signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on June 19.

He thanked the United States and Iran for their commitment to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict and expressed appreciation to Qatar for its mediation efforts. He also thanked Saudi Arabia and Turkiye for what he described as their significant contributions to the agreement.

According to Sharif, mediators will organize a series of meetings this week to prepare for technical discussions and the formal signing of the accord.

It should be noted that reports emerged yesterday claiming that Iran had suspended talks with the United States following Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
