US President Donald Trump is set to host Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi at the White House next month.

Axar.az reports, citing a joint statement from the Iraqi leader and Trump’s special envoy to Iraq, Tom Barrack, that the meeting is expected to take place in mid-July.

“Special Presidential Envoy Barrack conveyed that President Trump looks forward to welcoming Prime Minister al-Zaidi to the White House in mid-July to discuss the future of this important relationship,” the statement said.

On June 15, Special Presidential Envoy Barrack met with Iraqi Prime Minister al-Zaidi in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a shared vision for Iraq’s future, including efforts to build a stable and terrorism-free state, implement plans for the disarmament and disbandment of armed groups operating outside state authority, and ensure that all weapons remain under government control.

They also emphasized strengthening Iraq’s sovereignty and preventing the country from being used by any party to threaten regional stability.
