World leaders have gathered at the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, on Tuesday.
Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that G7 leaders are expected to focus on the U.S.-Iran deal and the war in Ukraine during the summit.
US President Donald Trump has just spoken to reporters during a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar at the G7 summit, where he spoke about the US’ agreement with Iran, and the wider region.
Trump claimed that the next phase of negotiations with Iran would be “easier” than the initial round that led to the recently announced Memorandum of Understanding.
He also insisted that the US would not be “investing any money in Iran,” seeking to tamper down fears among some of his allies that Tehran would receive American funds.
The US leader expressed his frustration with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, telling reporters that his Israeli counterpart needed to be “more responsible with respect to Lebanon.”
He suggested that Syria might “do a better job” at dealing with Hezbollah than Israel, saying that “the man that’s running Syria now” is “very good with Hezbollah.” Israel has been fighting Hezbollah for “too long,” Trump said, adding that “too many people are being killed.”
Meanwhile, Trump also said that he will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later today and encouraged Russia to agree to a deal that would end its war.
The G7 includes France, the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. Other guest nations at this summit including Brazil, India, Kenya and South Korea were invited to participate in some discussions as partner countries alongside G7 members.
The European Union is also represented at the meeting, with the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, attending this year’s event.
Leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Egypt are also present at Tuesday’s talks.
