Russian general arrested over fraud allegations

Russian military court has ordered the arrest of Major General Aleksandr Dembitskiy, former commander of the 44th Army Corps of the Leningrad Military District, in connection with a fraud investigation.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, the 235th Garrison Military Court ruled that Dembitskiy be held in pre-trial detention for two months.

The court confirmed that the general has been arrested but declined to disclose details of the charges, citing the secrecy of the investigation.

According to sources, Dembitskiy has been charged in a criminal case involving large-scale fraud linked to the private military company “Yastreb.”

The sources say 89 Russian servicemen have been recognized as victims in the case.

According to five of the victims, they were aware of Dembitskiy’s arrest and the charges brought against him.

He is currently being held in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center (SIZO).

Investigators believe Dembitskiy organized a fraudulent scheme involving payments to military personnel.
