Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Saturday inaugurated the State Strategic Command Headquarters, known as “The Octagon,” in the New Administrative Capital.
Axar.az reports, citing the Egyptian Government official website, that the facility is described by Egyptian authorities as the largest complex of its kind in the Middle East and serves as an integrated command, crisis management, and defense hub.
The Octagon is one of the largest military command complexes in the world. According to Egyptian and regional media reports, the facility covers approximately 22,000 acres (about 89 square kilometers) and consists of eight central buildings arranged in an octagonal design inspired by ancient Egyptian architecture and symbolizing coordination among state institutions.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, El-Sisi said the headquarters represents “a testament to the will of a nation that knows no impossible.”
“This Strategic Command represents a significant leap in our command, control, and operations management systems, armed with an advanced technological infrastructure, secure communication systems, and superior capabilities in information gathering and analysis.”
The Egyptian president said the facility would play a key role in addressing security challenges and safeguarding national stability.
“The Strategic Command stands as the living embodiment of a deep-rooted doctrine: that protecting the nation is a responsibility that tolerates no compromise.”
The headquarters integrates advanced command, control, communications and artificial intelligence systems designed to improve coordination and decision-making across Egypt’s armed forces.
