Qatar resumes maritime trade with Iran

Maritime trade between Qatar and Iran has resumed.

Axar.az reports, citing Qatar’s Ministry of Transport X account, that all types of maritime vessels and ships can now resume navigation activities.

“Maritime navigation activities can now resume normally for all types of maritime vessels & ships, as of the date of this announcement,” the ministry said.

“The MOT urges everyone to abide by the maritime regulations & instructions in effect, to ensure the highest levels of safety & security for all trips,” it added.

The route between Qatar’s Al Ruwais Port and Iran’s Dayyer Port is considered the shortest commercial sea route across the Persian Gulf.

The resumption comes about a week after Qatar urged vessels to temporarily suspend maritime activities amid rising tensions affecting shipping in the southern Persian Gulf.
