A drone attack threat was declared on August 8 in the city of Gelendzhik in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.

Axar.az reports, citing Interfax, that residents and tourists were urged to leave the beaches as air defense systems were operating in the area.

Gelendzhik Mayor Alexey Bogodistov said all beaches in the Gelendzhik, Kabardinka and Divnomorsk areas had been closed.

Earlier, reports emerged that explosions had been heard in the sky over Gelendzhik.

On August 3, a drone crashed onto a beach in the settlement of Arkhipo-Osipovka near Gelendzhik, killing seven people, including three children, and injuring more than 40 others.

Temporary flight restrictions were also imposed at Gelendzhik Airport following the incident.
