Russian strike on Kharkiv kills 2, injures 27 - Video

Russian forces struck Kharkiv’s Saltivskyi district on Aug. 9, directly hitting a residential high-rise and destroying floors seven through 10.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that two people were killed and 27 others were injured in the attack.

The dead were identified as two men aged 50 and 66.

Ukrainian officials said Russian forces attacked the city with three Banderol cruise missiles. People were trapped under the rubble, while search and rescue operations continued at the scene.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said a total of 15 high-rise buildings were damaged in the attack. He also said there was no air raid alert before the strike and described Banderol munitions as a new type of weapon being used by Russian forces.

The injured included a five-year-old boy. Eleven people suffered blast injuries, two were affected by carbon monoxide poisoning, and eight others, including a child, suffered acute stress reactions.
