An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been found on Turkiye’s Black Sea coast in Istanbul.

Axar.az informs, citing Turkish media, that the UAV was discovered in the Karaburun area of Arnavutkoy district after local residents fishing along the shore noticed an unfamiliar object and alerted lifeguards.

Lifeguards identified the object as a UAV and notified the Coast Guard. Security teams subsequently arrived at the scene and began examining the device.

Initial assessments indicated that the UAV may be carrying explosives, prompting the deployment of SAS commandos, who conducted an inspection.

Following the examination, authorities decided to destroy the UAV in place as a security precaution.
