A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Japan

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Japan at around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Axar.az reports, citing Tokyo Weekender, that the quake registered a lower 5 on Japan’s seven-level seismic intensity scale in Ibaraki Prefecture.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), during a 5 tremor, “most people feel fear and feel the need to hold onto something. Dishes on shelves and books on bookshelves may fall.”

The quake’s epicenter was located in southern Ibaraki Prefecture at a depth of 70 kilometers.

No tsunami warning has been issued.
