Germany to close Russian consulate in Bonn

The German government has decided to close the Russian Consulate General in Bonn effective September 18 over an incident involving a drone discovered at Leipzig/Halle Airport in early August.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul made the remarks at a press conference in Berlin.

“The German government is taking measures against Russia as the perpetrator of the hybrid attack in Leipzig,” he said.

“In addition to strengthening our security, the federal government is implementing measures against Russia. In coordination with the German Chancellor, I have ordered the following measures: the Russian Consulate General in Bonn will be closed effective September 18,” the German foreign minister stressed.
