Regional Studies Center Director Richard Giragosian has been hospitalized in Istanbul, Turkiye, after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Giragosian traveled to Istanbul on business, but his health deteriorated over the past week.

According to the center, Giragosian is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Okmeydani Prof. Dr. Cemil Tascioglu Hospital.

The center said it would become clear in the coming days whether the hemorrhage has caused any lasting damage.

It should be noted that Richard Giragosian was born on January 8, 1965, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. From 2002 to 2006, he worked as a visiting instructor for U.S. Special Forces at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg.

Giragosian was a professional staff member of the U.S. Congress’ Joint Economic Committee (JEC) for nine years. He has also worked as an adviser at the Asian Development Bank, the European Union Delegation in Armenia, the French Ministry of Defense, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the U.S. Department of State.
