20 suspects detained in Istanbul drug probe

Twenty suspects, including actors, singers, businesspeople and social media influencers, have been detained in Istanbul, Turkiye, as part of two separate investigations into drug-related offenses and facilitating prostitution.

Axar.az reports, citing Daily Sabah, that the investigations were launched by the Bakirkoy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

According to prosecutors, evidence was obtained indicating that some of the suspects had used narcotic or stimulant substances, facilitated drug use or provided premises for such activities. In a separate investigation, suspects are facing allegations related to drug use and procurement, privacy violations, blackmail and facilitating prostitution.

Authorities issued detention orders for 24 people across the two investigations, 20 of whom have been apprehended.

Those detained in the drug-related investigation include actors Aras Bulut İynemli, Melis Sezen and Nilperi Sahinkaya, singer Sefo, former footballer Hasan Sas, and several other public figures.

The second operation resulted in the detention of Volkan Akciray, Zeynep Akciray, Eda Guzelcik, Sezer Cakir, Hazal Filiz Kucukkose and Yeliz Tuba Yasa.
