Mexico proposes $9 increase in entry tax for foreign tourists

Mexico’s government has proposed increasing the entry fee for foreign tourists by 175 pesos (about US$9) in 2027, raising the charge from 983 pesos to 1,158 pesos (around US$63).

Axar.az reports, citing Mexico News Daily, that Tourism Minister Josefina Rodriguez confirmed the proposed 17.8% increase in the Derecho de No Residente, a fee paid by foreign visitors entering the country.

The increase, which requires congressional approval, is 50% lower than initially proposed. Under the government’s plan, 57% of the revenue would go to the Ministry of National Defense, 15% to the National Migration Institute and 28% to the federal treasury.
