386,000 children born worldwide on New Year’s Day

Approximately 386,000 babies were born on New Year’s Day.

Of these, over 90 per cent were born in less developed regions.

Over half of these births took place in nine countries: India — 69,010, China — 20,210, The Democratic Republic of Congo — 9,400, Ethiopia — 9,020 and Bangladesh — 8370.
