Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the historic Asian Cup win in football in a phone call on Saturday.

Axar.az reports citing AA that, Erdogan congratulated the Qatari emir on becoming the Asian Cup champion, said presidential sources.

Qatar is celebrating a historic first Asian Cup win in football after beating Japan in the 2019 final on Friday.

The national team beat the four-time champions 3-1 at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

The two leaders also pledged to further strengthen Turkey-Qatar relations in all areas.
