At least seven Afghan policemen were killed and 20 more injured in two separate attacks claimed by the Taliban on Wednesday.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that the deadlier of the two attacks was a suicide car bombing in the southern Kandahar province, which killed three policemen and injured 20 others.

The blast took place at around 4.00 a.m. on Wednesday (1130GMT Tuesday) in the restive Shah Wali Kot district, the provincial governor's spokesman Baheer Ahmad made a statement on this.

Taliban spokesperson Qari Yosuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for what he said was a “tactical attack.”
