Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavushoghlu and Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid had a telephone conversation. This is the first telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of the two countries in the last 13 years.
Axar.az informs this was reported by the "Jerusalem Post" newspaper.
The Israeli side said that Cavushoghlu called Lapi due to coronavirus infection.
A source in Jerusalem told the newspaper that talks are underway on Ishaq Herzog's visit to Turkey. The source said that the improvement of Jerusalem-Ankara relations will not be due to Israel's alliance with Turkey's historical rivals Greece and Cyprus.
It should be noted that the telephone conversation took place a few days ago after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan showed friendly relations with Israel. A few days ago, Erdogan said he could meet with Israeli President Ishak Herzog, and said that Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was sending messages at various levels.
Erdogan also said he was ready to work with Israel on a gas pipeline to Europe via Turkey after the United States said it did not support plans to build the EastMed gas pipeline to Greece, Israel and Cyprus.
