Iran is trying to develop cooperation with Armenia in a way that does not harm the interests of Russia, but our position on the issue of the corridor (Zangezur Corridor - ed.) or Armenia's borders is unshakable.
Axar.az reports that this was said by Robert Beglaryan, a member of the Iranian Parliament of Armenian descent.
"Iran has so far shown that the geographical position of this region is of great importance to it, and Tehran has not agreed to any proposal that could be made during the negotiations at different levels.
Proposals may come now, including from Russia... However, Tehran considers access to the north through Armenia to be important, especially considering the growing role of the Caucasus in terms of relations with the Middle East. Therefore, maintaining the territorial integrity and independence of Armenia is an important factor for Iran," said the deputy.
He noted that Russia, as a superpower, has always thought of advancing its interests and considered it a priority:
"It is clear that Russia will try to use the factor of the countries that were part of it or in its orbit of influence to its advantage."
