Mohammad Bagir Ghalibaf, candidate for the presidency of Iran and speaker of the country's parliament, supported Saeed Jalili, the opponent of Masoud Pezeshkia in the second round.

Axar.az reports that he said this in his statement.

Ghalibaf said that Masud Pezeshkia respects him, but he is not confident of those around him.

"I ask the revolutionary forces and their supporters to try to make Said Jalili the next head of government as a candidate of the Revolutionary Front," Ghalibaf urged.

He called Masoud Pezeshkian a representative of the political trend that caused many political and economic problems of the country.

It should be noted that after counting 24,535,185 ballots, Masud Pezeshkian is in first place with 10,415,901 votes.

His opponent, Said Jalili, took second place with 9,473,298 votes.

Muhammad Bagir Ghalibaf, the defeated candidate and calling against Pezeshkian, managed to collect only 3,383,340 votes.

The second round of the election will be held on July 5.
