Greek PM says Turkiye is eight times larger

Turkiye is a large country, about eight times bigger than Greece, and this should always be taken into account.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made the remarks in an interview with local media.

"That is why I want Greece to always have such a strong deterrent that no one would even think of challenging Greece's sovereignty and sovereign rights," he said.

"And this is exactly the position we find ourselves in today, and we will continue to grow even stronger," he added.

Greece has an area of about 132,000 square kilometers and a population of just over 10 million.

Turkiye covers approximately 874,000 square kilometers and has a population of more than 86 million.

Turkiye also has NATO's second-largest military.
