BRICS has never been a military alliance among associated countries and has no intention of becoming one.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The statement emphasized that BRICS is not an international organization or integration structure but a union of sovereign states based on equality. It is a multifunctional strategic partnership built on three key areas: politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Notably, earlier, British political expert Roger Boyes claimed in "The Times" that BRICS is a military organization, which should concern NATO.
