The return of Armenians to Karabakh will only be possible after peace is achieved with Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that these remarks were made by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan in an interview with Armenpress and Shant TV channel.

He emphasized the need for a realistic approach to the issue, stating that security concerns must first be addressed before discussing the return:

“There are various factors—security and certain conditions that will likely be presented to the Karabakh Armenians (presumably referring to their acceptance as Azerbaijani citizens—editor's note).”

Khachaturyan expressed confidence that despite existing disagreements, a resolution can be reached through negotiations with Azerbaijan. He stressed that these challenges should not hinder “progress.”

He also addressed the issue of the Armenian separatist-terrorists imprisoned in Baku, highlighting that active efforts are ongoing in this regard. Khachaturyan expressed confidence that these efforts would ultimately “succeed.”
