The Palestinian Hamas movement intended to attack Israel in the fall of 2022 but postponed its plans as it sought support from Iran and the Hezbollah movement.

Axar.az reports that this information is based on protocols from meetings of Hamas leadership seized by Israeli soldiers, as cited by "The New York Times".

According to the publication, the documents were found in January at Hamas's underground command center in Khan Yunis, containing protocols from 10 meetings that show the movement intentionally avoided major confrontations.

Additionally, the newspaper claims that Hamas requested Iranian officials and Hezbollah to strike Israeli targets during an attack.

The report also notes that Hamas's decision to launch an attack was influenced by a desire to hinder the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
