The next target of Russian forces in Ukraine could be Zaporizhzhia.

Axar.az reports that The Economist reported this, citing a senior Ukrainian official.

"The same source indicates that Russia may have already recaptured half of the territories taken by Ukraine in the Kursk region in August 2024, which would be the only significant advance following Ukraine's unsuccessful counteroffensive in 2023," the publication stated.

It is noted that everything on the battlefield looks "grim." Despite excessively high losses, Russia is making significant progress simultaneously at several points along a 1,000-kilometer front line. U.S. estimates suggest that the occupiers have already lost 600,000 soldiers (dead and wounded) in Ukraine.

"The publication emphasized that Russia is advancing southward by besieging Pokrovsk, a key logistics center in eastern Ukraine, to control the heights around Vuhledar."
