BRICS will not accept new members

At the summit held in Kazan, leaders of BRICS member states have decided not to accept new members into the alliance for the time being. Instead, they will grant BRICS partner status to some countries.

Axar.az reports that it was stated by the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in response to requests from 30-35 countries to join the association, BRICS leaders agreed during the meeting in Kazan that no new members will be accepted at this time, while some countries will be welcomed as partners.
