Flooding has also affected parts of Barcelona’s El Prat airport, the second-largest in the country, resulting in the cancellation or delay of more than 80 flights. Additionally, rail services in the area have been suspended.
The torrential rains, which brought an entire year’s worth of rainfall to the Valencia region last week, have caused at least 217 deaths. On Monday, rescue teams concentrated on locating missing individuals in underground parking garages.
