French ambassador honors victims of AZAL plane crash

The French Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anne Bouillon, commemorated the victims of the crash involving an "Azerbaijan Airlines" plane on December 25.

Axar.az reports that this was shared on the embassy's X (formerly Twitter) account.

"This morning, the French Ambassador to Azerbaijan laid a bouquet of flowers at the memorial plaque at the airport as a sign of respect for the victims of the crash involving an 'Azerbaijan Airlines' plane on December 25. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and loved ones," the post stated.

It should be noted that on December 25, an AZAL plane operating the Baku-Grozny flight was struck by Russian air defense systems while in Grozny airspace, sustaining serious damage. Denied permission to land, the plane diverted to Aktau but crashed near Aktau Airport. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died, and 29 survived the crash.

On December 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin called President Ilham Aliyev to apologize for the incident occurring in Russian airspace. On December 29, Putin called Aliyev again to continue discussions on the matter.
