Iranian delegation heads to Turkiye over truck dispute

A delegation from Iran is heading to Turkiye regarding the trucks stranded on the Turkiye-Iran border.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei.

'This issue is purely technical in nature and has no political aspect. The relevant authorities in the transportation and fuel supply sectors are primarily dealing with this matter,' he said.

It should be noted that in recent weeks, nearly 1,000 Iranian trucks have been stuck at the Iran-Turkiye border. The main reason for this is Turkiye's imposition of a 28 lira tax on each liter of fuel in the tanks of Iranian trucks, as Iran stopped supplying fuel to Turkish trucks.

Additionally, Iranian drivers have been taxed on their extra income for carrying excess fuel with the intent to sell.
