The Houthi terror group in Yemen has launched a significant wave of arrests within its ranks, including members of its security forces, due to fears of espionage, according to a report citing Yemeni security sources.
Axar.az, citing Jerusalem Post, reports that the suspicions arose following the recent deaths of senior Houthi leaders in aerial strikes under unclear circumstances.
Concerns about potential Israeli involvement have escalated these fears, prompting the Houthis to take extraordinary security measures, including building underground command complexes and frequently changing locations to avoid detection.
Israel has vowed to target Houthi leadership in response to the group's escalating attacks. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated Israel's intention to "strike the Houthis hard, destroy their strategic infrastructure, and decapitate their leadership."
Since the war began, the Houthis, closely aligned with Iran, have launched over 40 surface-to-surface missiles and 320 drones at Israel, with most intercepted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Meanwhile, the United States has also conducted precision strikes on Houthi-controlled weapon storage facilities in Yemen, aiming to counter the group's threat to regional stability and maritime security.
